Dear Families,

If you’re reading this, you know the sleepless nights, the long hospital visits, and the endless doctor appointments that somehow always seem to happen during the school week. You know what it’s like to navigate multiple specialists, paperwork, and phone calls, and to feel the creeping dread when you have to accept yet another appointment on a school day because that’s all the time that’s offered. You know what it’s like to try to explain absences beyond your control, to chase forms and phone calls, only to feel that your child’s needs are reduced to a number or a box instead of being seen for who they really are. You know what it’s like to prepare for and sit through an IEP meeting, with so many people across the table, all focused on your child while you’re trying to hold everything together.

My name is Deanna Nye, and I’m a mom to three incredible children with disabilities, rare diseases, and complex medical needs. I know the exhaustion, the hope, the isolation, and the strength that come with this journey. I’ve spent years advocating not just for my own children, but for others  so that no family ever feels like they are alone and treading water in a school system that wasn’t built with their child in mind.

That’s why I’m running for Board of Education. Families like ours deserve schools that meet us with compassion, not judgment. We deserve systems that guide, not punish that see each child as unique, capable, and full of potential. Not every student fits in the same box, and our schools should reflect that truth in every policy, classroom, and conversation.

If elected, I will work to ensure that:

  • Families are met with understanding, collaboration, and respect.
  • Every child receives the support they need to learn and thrive.
  • Our district values transparency, inclusion, and compassion as much as achievement.

This election isn’t about politics. It’s about people, our children, our families, and our shared belief that every student deserves to be seen, supported, and celebrated. That’s why it’s so important for every family to vote for all three candidates in Column D. If we don’t stand with you, who will?

Thank you for everything you do each day for your children. Your strength inspires me, and it’s why I’m running to bring our lived experiences and our voices to the table where decisions are made.

With warmth and understanding,
Deanna Nye
